Step-1: Launch the MX Player app from the app launcher on your device. Tap on the three-line icon/menu icon at the top left side of the screen.
Step-2: Locate the local Settings option from the list of menu and click on it. Then select the Decoder option.
Step-3: Now, you have to scroll down to the end to found the Custom Codec section. Under this section, you will see the type of custom codec such as neon, x86, tegra2, etc. which you required to download for your device. Don’t click on the Custom Codec option, just note down the type of the format.
Step-4: Then, you need to download the required type of codec for your device. You can download the codec by simply searching it on the internet.
Step-5: Most of the codec file is available in zip format. Don’t unzip the file right now, simply move it to the folder where you want to save it.
Step-6: Open MX Player again. It will automatically detect the downloaded codec file. If it does not detect, go to the Settings >> Decoder >> Custom Codec
Step-7: Click on the Custom Codec option and locate the folder where you saved the required codec file and then click on that file.
Step-8: Once you upload the file, it will ask permission to restart MX Player. Tap on OK and wait until it restarts automatically.
Step-9: If you want to check the installed custom codec, select the Help option from the menu and choose About to check information about the custom codec.
